In collaboration with the SIHA Network, VOSOMWO organized a two-day training in Hargeisa aimed at strengthening the political awareness and leadership capacity of women and girls from minority communities. This training served as a prelude to similar capacity-building trainings planned in other regions of the country, which will ultimately reach 75 women and girls in total.
The official opening session was attended by representatives from the Women’s Wing of the KULMIYE Party, the Deputy Chairperson of the NOW Women’s Organization, a representative of the SIHA Network, the Head of the United Nations Office for Somaliland and Somalia, and officials from the Somaliland Ministry of Justice.
Through these trainings, women and girls from culturally disadvantaged communities are being equipped with knowledge and skills in democratic leadership and political participation, with the objective of identifying and supporting politically capable and motivated minority women to actively participate in political and decision-making processes in Somaliland.
