The Voice of Somaliland Minority Women Organization (VOSOMWO), in collaboration with Plan International, successfully conducted a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness session in Daami A settlement, aimed at preventing GBV and strengthening the protection of women and girls.
The session focused on educating participants about women’s and girls’ rights, the importance of community awareness, mutual respect, and the collective responsibility of building a safe society free from violence and discrimination. Community members were also sensitized on the harmful impacts of GBV and the importance of promoting protection, dignity, equality, and support for survivors.
The awareness session brought together women, youth, and community representatives who actively participated in discussions on prevention mechanisms, social responsibility, and the promotion of peaceful and inclusive communities.
VOSOMWO remains committed to empowering women and girls and promoting protection, dignity, safety, and equal opportunities for vulnerable and marginalized communities across Somaliland.

Awareness is the light of society, and protecting girls is a shared responsibility.”
