Voice of Somaliland Minority Women Organization (VOSOMWO), in collaboration with Plan International, conducted a one-day training in Hargeisa for IDP committee members, social workers, and university youth.
The training focused on the prevention of violence against women, children, and other vulnerable groups, as well as on how to effectively support survivors. Particular emphasis was placed on GBV Referral Pathways and Case Management.
The sessions highlighted ways to strengthen both prevention and response mechanisms for Gender-Based Violence (GBV), ensuring that survivors receive timely and appropriate support services. Participants were also encouraged to become well-informed about available service providers to facilitate effective referrals.
In addition, the training emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between communities, institutions, and professionals in order to build a safe and inclusive society based on justice, equality, and respect for human rights.
During the training, participants explored the multi-dimensional impact of GBV, recognizing that it not only causes physical harm but also affects mental health, economic stability, and social relationships.
